Sand Sculpture Gallery

Here is a selection of both Mark Anderson’s and his Grandfather Fred Darrington’s sand sculptures. Fred started sand sculpting back in the 1920’s on Weymouth Beach, right up until the age of 86 when he retired due to a stroke. Fred sadly passed away in 2002. Mark helped his grandfather out from the age of 11, and became an apprentice sand sculptor at 22. Mark knew he had succeeded when he turned up for work one day to find Fred had changed the sign to "Sand Sculptures by FG Darrington & Grandson".

Mark was very proud and today he runs Sculptures in Sand on his own but ever mindful of the influence of his kindly grandfather. Mark carries on sand sculpting throughout the summer, spending the winter months carrying out work for his various clients.
